The Monkey's Cheese!

   Monday, August 16

What a crazy weekend. I am again at an internet cafe, in Sydney across from the station, it's monday morning, 9:30 a.m and it's raining.

I guess I should start where I left off in my last entry.. I did get the job! About an hour after I blogged and at the peak of my defeatist depression they finally called me.. actually they called me the second i stopped thinking or worrying ab out getting the job, because i'd been distracted by having found the first Bloodhound Gang C.D 'Use Your Fingers' which i promptly bought, whilst shopping for cd's with Austin after his work. I was pretty stoked, we then went to a $10 C.D store that was selling the first B52's album which i've been looking for ages so that worked out real well. Giddy in my own crapulence I bought myself some tickets to Melbourne on the net and we went home. That afternoon we went to play Aqua Golf, Austin, Jeff, Clancy & I, it was fun but we all sucked, aftwerwards i got the shits with Jeff because he had said we were going to Krispy Kreme and then he changed his mind and I was really upset so they took me home and I slept.

Well, I can't really remember what happenned on friday night.. I believe it was Zoe's birthday and i was meant to go to Panthers but Al & I didn't have a way to get there so we stayed at home and had some gas but didn't really do much, in fact, i think we played puzzle fighter.

Saturday is a different story, it started of nicely enough, we've been having good weather but it has just started to get really windy. In the morning i went shopping with Austin for an Australian flag and some other shit and we had some brekky and dat. Austin took me home, I cleaned a bit and then we were off to 'Brides of Destruction'!!

The drive down was a fun cliche, driving to the city listening to Aerosmith on our way to a rock concert, yeah!
Well what can I say, it was wicked! Austin actually got given some hash cake by some guy the way to pick me up and we promptly ate it when we got in the car, by the time we got to Sydney we were pretty spacey. It was all good but, we met a Canadian guy named Jarret that had come to our party who was a bit of a mad cunt and headed on in. The first band sounded good and looked shit, the second band sounded average and looked good. Neither of them came even close to emulating the incredibly display of sheer rock goodness that was brought by the Brides.

I was actually really expecting to be pretty average but during the first band i got talking to a pommy bird called Mindy who had come by herself, bot nights because she loved Nikki so much, she told me that they were awesome and pumped me up a fair bit. There was no chance of dissappoinment because the Brides were just so damn good. The singer was a mad cunt, Nikki and Tracii were rock gods, the sound was the loudest i've ever heard in the Gaelic. So i got in the mosh and rocked out.
At one point I saw an opening to do a bit of crowdsurfing and jump on stage, and i thought 'if i dont get on stage with nikki now, I will never forgive myself', so up i went, right onto the stage, got up, jumped around a fair bit and then took a killer stagedive. Awesome.
Brides of Destruction fucking rocked and that's all you need to know, they even played two Motley Crue songs, 'Shout at the Devil' which they dedicated to Ron Raegan and Bush, and 'Live Wire' which went offffff. Killer gig. Killer night. I jumped on stage with Nikki Sixx, i lost my beanie, but then i found a new one on the floor. Nice.

Afterwards we went to the car and played Jarret some of our tunes and met up with Clay who was on his way to some dance thing in Newtown with Rich, Tim and Lauren. So we followed but it wasn't actually on, so they decided to go to the pub. Austin wanted to go home but I wanted to stay out so he left me there and went home. The rest of the story is a bit fuzzy. I think we went to three different pubs, including the townie which we got kicked out of and got really drunk. I talked to Clay for ages about all sorts of crap and i think they were really good conversations but i can't remember. In the morning we went from the pub to get some coffee, it was Lauren, Clay, Troy (A singer from a band called Fish Fingazz) and me. At the front of the coffee shop we met Sebastian Guy, or was it Guy Sebastian? I dont know, but he was the winner of Australian Idol last year, he was really cool and down to earth, we didnt talk much to him, and Troy was a bit of a knob but Clay and I chatted with him briefly and it was cool.

From there we headed to the Studio and had a jam and got drunker and then we went out again to the Strawbs where there was a Jazz night, met up with Tim, drunk more, then to the Madison, got drunker and met Clay's latest root Margaret (she was nice), then back to Strawbs for more drinking and then we went to the studio, got a carton of Coopers and got even drunker. We ended up passing out at like two and now i am here the following morning writing about it.

Overall a very good weekend, i am so lucky to have a cool, fun life, and i don't think i say thank you enough. So thank you!
