last thursday i got to see Fantomas at this mad little industrial looking salon that only fits 1000 - 1500 people max. Its packed, hot, sweaty, the stage is small, its real *secret, private gig style* and im looking for a seat, and i cant find anywahere to stand or see properly.. so i sneak upstairs, to the v.i.p style balcony, and after a while, find a seat, with my legs dangling, right under the main spotlight. About 10 metres in front of the band, right in the middle, above the crowd. I LITERALLY HAD THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE! Man, i was so close, i could see the drops of sweat on pattons forehead and the shine in his eye. Right smack bang in the middle, we even made eye contact! IT WAS INSANE! They played for an hour and a half, everything was PERFECT. it wazs literally genius, and the energy was insane, lombardo, if thats the drummer, is a goddamn machine sent from hell. Mike was going psychotic, and directing everything from his corner, and the lights were cool! Everything sounded damn good, and the venue was just so tripped out and industrial and shite, i just couldnt believe my luck. The energy was exhilirating, they had heaps of fun onstage, and patton fully speaks spanish, he was going on about how mcuh they's always wanted to play here and instroduced everyone and shit, but in spanish, and good spanish! I was duly impressed.
..it turns out i couldve taken a camera in, and i was kicking myself cuz they would have been beatdisc quality photos. But thats always the way it is.. :(
