The Monkey's Cheese!

   Thursday, July 12

Yesterday i was feeling pretty depressed, i guess its because it dawned on me that one day I may have to get a job.

So i looked for a job.. can you believe the sort of things advertised..

"Do you have the DNA? Callcentre staff needed!" and.. "Fantastic hours! 8 am to 6 pm, great package!" also.. "Are you a funky dude that loves to work?!" .. (ok I made the last one up, but it's not much of a stretch).

Anyway it made me so SICK. It might as well cut to the point..

"Want to be a slave?! Come overwork at our boxy fluorescent lit offices! Occasional fruit supplied! Underpayment guaranteed! Great Super!" UGH.

I don't know what i'm going to do, but i'm not about to get a full time job, or work at a callcentre, ever.again. I don't hate myself enough. Not anymore. So we'll see, wait, watch, I'm sure I can find a job I like. I know not all jobs are evil.. but the job market, it's disgusting.

I would like to clear up. I don't dislike work. I like to work. I love to work! I love a job. It's a great feeling, to know you are doing something, to get up for in the morning, the people you meet, and help. It really can be a satisfying experience.

However, the way work is given. The hours. The way that most jobs require you to become an automata, a number, a node for some greater detached, uncaring, sterile company that frowns and mistrusts you. It's a harrowing situation, and let's not kid ourselves, most jobs are like that.

This is where I should plug a link to - In praise of Idleness - . If you have a spare moment, please read it, it puts my thoughts across into a more eloquent and formal manner. To believe it was written in 1932! How backwards we continue to be!
