It's Mixtape Monday - The Emotion Mix

http://www.mediafire.com/?utxdgimyn5f
I've been getting a little pensive and sooky this week. I think it has to do with the weather. This compilation is a little daggy, but I guess it's a personal thing. They are songs that I find to be dripping with emotion, which move me in different ways.
I've always been interested in how songs act as filters to our perceptions. There's a beauty in listening to strong emotional songs in different situations and letting them show you their meaning beyond words. Like listening to 'Mad World' when catching a train to work in the morning, or to I Talk To The Wind when walking alone.
I hope you enjoy it. (I know I know, worst cover art ever).
1. Johny Cash - Hurt 2. Gary Jules - Mad World 3. Mr Bungle - Pink Cigarette 4. Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl 5. King Crimson - I Talk To The Wind 6. Eddie Harris - Eddie Sings The Blues 7. Jurassic 5 - Thin Line 8. Jewel - Who Will Save Your Soul 9. Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night 10. Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends 11. Guns N'Roses - Estranged 12. Ellen Allien - SoolLabels: Mix Tape Mondays

It's Mixtape Monday - The Frank Zappa Mix

http://www.mediafire.com/?udvcjce204v
It took me a long time to get into Zappa. I don't know why, he's so melodic and interesting! I always had this misconception that his music was difficult to appreciate. That, combined with the fact that the man has released 20,000 albums made it daunting to even consider listening to his music.
Thankfully I was lucky enough to see his son, Dweezil Zappa on tour playing his dads covers, and everything changed. I got a few albums and never looked back.
Not only is he a prolific virtuoso, he's also probably the best guitarist ever.
Here's a collection of my favorite songs, enjoy it, it's as funny and harmonious as it is challenging and intriguing!
(Oh yeah i missed the last two weeks!! OOPS!)
1. Peaches En Regalia 2. Fine Girl 3. Little Umbrellas 4. Montana 5. St.Alphonzos Pancake Breakfast 6. Father O'blivion 7. Son Of Mr Green Genes 8. Stink Foot 9. Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar Some More 10. Inca Roads 11. Zappa's Final Guitar SoloLabels: Mix Tape Mondays

It's Mixtape Monday! - The Groove Mix

http://www.mediafire.com/?xtbje1tv2jn
The definition of groove is being in the pocket, in the zone, it's that magical rhythm that can flow on forever and just gets better and better.
I have chosen songs that hold solid grooves, if not much in the vocals department. There's some funk, some jazz, some exotica, and some cocktail piano thrown in for good measure.
This mix should go down well at work, cafes, while driving, or when hanging out on a big cushy couch reading mags and shooting shit with friends.
1. Beastie Boys - Groove Holmes 2. Plastilina Mosh - Banano's Bar 3. St.Germain - Land Of.. 4. Beck - Diskobox 5. Fila Brazillia - Bumpkin Riots 6. African Pop Session - African Voodoo 7. Steel Pulse - Taxi Dub 8. Chromeo - Since You Were Gone 9. Jimmy Smith - Night Train 10. Martin Denny - Exotique Bossa Nova 11. Blockhead - Get Your Regal On 12. Horsemilk - They Milk Horses Don't They 13. Tv Themes - Pink Panther 14. Pink Floyd - Any Color You Like 15. Love Tko - Tongue In your Ear
Hope you like it!

It's Mixtape Monday! - The World Mix
Making a world mix was hard! Turns out world music doesn't necessarily mean music from all over the world. There are certain elements which define it as 'world', so this mix is not the most pure of world mixes (It's no Putumayo), but it does feature a number of artists from non western countries which you may not have heard of. Some of the tracks can take a bit of getting used to, but they should grow on you with time!
Disfruta!

It's Mixtape Monday! - The Break Up Mix.
I've missed the last few because I was in Thailand. (It was intense survival bungalow trashbag and street drunken fun).
It seems to be break up season around here, hearts are being shattered, messages aren't being returned, girlfriends are moving away, boyfriends aren't giving answers and the winter is coming. This is a mix to depress, cheer up and empower.

It's Mixtape Monday! - The Mellow Mix.
This is such a good mix you will probably never hear it all the way through because you'll be out by the fifth song.. Which is a shame. Who would have thought Pantera could be so mellow?
Not recommended listening while driving or working. Snoozy effects.

Mixtape Monday - The Work Mix
Damn the man! this week brings the ultimate Work Mix!
My friend Steve says a job is nothing but work. I think he's right.
But I need some money to pay for my wild cocaine habit and boat repayments, and how is one supposed to do that without a job? Boy I've worked some crap jobs.. (*cough*.. Virgin Mobile Call Centre)..
So last week my boss gave me all sorts of trouble. I yelled at him and then he yelled at me and then I yelled at him some more and then he gave me a raise.
It inspired me to put together this mix, with all the best songs about money, working, the pros and the cons, beginning with the most classic of all work songs, 'Sixteen Tons' by Tennesse Ernie Ford.
Michael is in there, Yoko, even Beck. (Avoid pumping the Beck song while your boss is around!)
Enjoy!

It's Mixtape Monday on Tuesday!
Beginning with the grace of Camille and leading down a tunnel of dulcet tones and feminine wonders!
I've always been a big fan of female singers. I think it started with my love of the B52's when I was young (The B52's are sorely missing from this comp due to itunes DRM, which doesnt allow me to make mp3's from purchased music. Thanks a lot Mr.Jobs.).
For some reason lyrics by girls always stick to my head. Don't be surprised to see me on the street singing at the top of my lungs 'I thought he was a man but he was just a little boy!'.. I can't help it!

"To me, making a tape is like writing a letter — there's a lot of erasing and rethinking and starting again. A good compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do. You've got to kick off with a corker, to hold the attention (I started with "Got to Get You Off My Mind", but then realized that she might not get any further than track one, side one if I delivered what she wanted straightaway, so I buried it in the middle of side two), and then you've got to up it a notch, or cool it a notch, and you can't have white music and black music together, unless the white music sounds like black music, and you can't have two tracks by the same artist side by side, unless you've done the whole thing in pairs and...oh, there are loads of rules." - High FidelityLabels: Mix Tape Mondays
